Research Expertise
Description
My main research interest is the cognitive psychology of ageing. In particular the overlap between perceptual and higher-level cognitive processing and the brain mechanisms underlying them. I am particularly interested in the lifespan perspective, having worked with children and both young and older adults.My main topics of investigation are:
-integration of different senses in ageing, in particular the relationship between perceptual and multisensory decline and higher-level cognitive functions (e.g. attention, memory) and its neural underpinnings. I am also studying the onset of pathological conditions such as frailty and susceptibility to falls;
-perception and semantic memory across the life span, in particular embodied cognition, i.e. the relationship between body changes and changes in knowledge activation (semantic memory). I am also interested in the relationship between changes in body schema and perception.
